The deed is recorded
The house and its parcel passed to the Friends of the Latimer House this morning, recorded in Book 6928. Ten years after the codicil, the house has an owner whose only job is to look after it.

The School Board votes
The Board voted ten to one in favor of the transfer, the last approval the conveyance needed. The vote followed the Commission's own the day before.

A budget, at last
With the bones exposed, our historic renovation specialist priced the work section by section. The restoration budget was finished in June 2025 and the project finally had a number.

The brick starts coming off
The veneer began coming away and the hand hewn logs came out from under it for the first time in about a hundred years. Photographs from both days are on the restoration page.

The bequest comes back
The five hundred thousand dollars was separated back out of the education technology trust and returned to the county, where it had been meant to go since 2016.

The Commission demands it back
Resolution 2410-15 passed on a unanimous voice vote. It stated the funds had been improperly distributed, demanded their transfer with accrued interest, and ordered work on the house to commence.
